SCOPE: This cross organizational role will see you working as a leader in a larger multi-disciplined team focused on resolution of complex issues and building consensus. In this leadership position you will guide a team of process engineers through: • The immediate support of the turnover of the newly built Bitumen Production Plants - Ore Preparation, Extraction and Froth Treatment. • The detailed design of the next Ore Preparation Train and Hydro-transport Pipeline Corridor. • The detailed design, construction and subsequent turnover of the Bitumen Production facilities that double the current capacity. • Scope development, final definition and execution to once again double the capacity of the Bitumen Production Facilities.
KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION: • Manage, mentor and professionally develop a team of electrical and instrumentation engineers; and • Ensure that the selected plant designs are the best optimization of process design, maintainability, operability and constructability within the limitations of budgets and schedules.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide instrument and electrical equipment specification, installation design, technical and work process support to prepare construction work packages for small plant improvements. • Provide expertise to resolve application issues for variable frequency drives, programmable controllers and specialty instruments. • Provide leadership for electrical, instrument and controls to the maintenance group, the sustaining capital group and the major projects group. • Provide assignment of work orders, status and key performance reports for work orders requiring E&I engineering support.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: Education & Experience: • Completion of Engineering Degree with a requirement for registration with APEGGA or eligibility as a Professional Engineer in Alberta. (Electrical Engineering Degree is preferred). • Prior experience in an Engineering Manager or Lead position. • Progressive experience (10-15 years) in a large industrial plant is considered an asset. • Proven experience coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams such as Engineering, Construction, Maintenance, Operations and Engineering contractors is essential. Experience in working with Engineering firms is critical to this role. • Experience in working in a Northern environment is preferred.
