Horizon Oil Sands, north of Fort McMurray, is an exciting part of our growth. Horizon Oil Sands operations started in February 2005 and after years of planning and construction, the Horizon Oil Sands successfully and sustainably produced its first barrels of high quality, sweet synthetic crude oil (SCO) in early 2009. First production of SCO was a major milestone for Canadian Natural and we are very pleased with the success of the project. With Phase 1 production capacity of 110,000 bpd, this is just the first step in value creation.  Looking to the future, our assets support 232,000 – 250,000 barrels per day of light, sweet, crude oil production for over 40 years, with no production declines.

This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Position Summary

SCOPE:
The Maintenance Analyst has a key role supporting the maintenance organization by ensuring that  the CMMS’s are properly updated and used, in order to allow the Maintenance effort  to be measured and improved through the key indicators generated by them.

KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION:
• This position offers the challenge of participating in the consolidation of the Upgrading and Utilities (U2) Maintenance Strategy along with associated CMMS systems and supporting software programs.
• Reporting to the U2 Planning Lead, this position assists and supports the planning and scheduling effort helping to organize and administrate all planning related activities.
• This position plays a major role in CMMS system improvement and development for the U2 Maintenance Team.
• This position plays a major role in the implementation of the maintenance performance key indicators including contractor’s performance.
• This position also will play a major in cost/budget control, forecast and estimate.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Set up and populate the CMMS – JDE maintenance modules for Upgrading and Utilities Business Unit
• Develop and implement cost/budget control, estimate and forecast
• Set up predictive and preventative maintenance programs based on outcome received from RCM studies
• Ensure maintenance planning systems (i.e. JDE, Primavera P3, IGS, etc) are properly updated to support the organization
• Identification of issues within any supporting software and participation in the resolution of same as well as the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the CMMS support systems
• Using various software packages to develop reports which assist in the administration and tracking of work order processes, costs or other information as may be required by area maintenance and management personnel
• Coordinate the implementation of the key indicators to measure the performance of the maintenance effort, the evaluation of the trends, the issuing of reports and follow up to improvement recommendations

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Education & Experience:
• Post Graduate Degree, Technical Certificate or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years progressive experience as plant maintenance analyst or related roles. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience associated with maintenance on heavy oil upgraders, large oil refining facilities or petrochemical plants
• Strong experience in CMMS setup and planning programs (i.e. JDE, Primavera, MS Project)
• A strong understanding of business processes
• Ability to learn planning and scheduling methodology
• Experience with Materials Management systems
• Strong experience with writing reports and presentations
• Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience in cost estimate and budget control/forecast will be an asset.
